This Privacy Policy explains how LearnSnap AI: Study Helper ("LearnSnap", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application. Please read this policy carefully before using the app.
1. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to all users of LearnSnap AI: Study Helper on Android. LearnSnap AI is intended for users aged 13 and above and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at support@bytecraft.pk so we can address it promptly.
2. Account Model
LearnSnap AI supports two account modes:
- Guest account: When you first install the app, you can begin immediately as a guest. The app creates a random installation UUID to identify your session. This UUID is not linked to your name, email, or any personal identifier unless you choose to link a Google account.
- Google-linked account: You may optionally sign in with Google to protect future access and enable account recovery on another supported device.
The app does not access your contacts, SMS messages, call logs, IMEI, hardware serial number, or any unrelated device identifiers.
3. Information We May Collect
3.1 Installation Identifier
A randomly generated installation UUID is created when you install the app. This identifier is used for guest session management, security, and abuse prevention. It is not associated with any personal identity unless you link a Google account.
3.2 Google Account Information (Optional)
If you sign in with Google, our backend may receive:
- Google subject identifier (a stable, opaque identifier assigned by Google)
- Email address and email-verification state
- Display name
- Profile image URL
Your Google password is never received or stored by LearnSnap. Raw Google ID tokens are used only to verify your identity at sign-in and are not stored as profile data. LearnSnap does not use Firebase Authentication as its identity system; authentication is handled by our own backend infrastructure.
The backend uses your Google subject identifier as the stable technical identity key. Your email address is treated as optional profile metadata, not as a primary identity key.
3.3 Authentication Tokens and Session Data
LearnSnap uses access tokens, refresh tokens, backend account records, and installation associations to manage authenticated sessions. These are used for:
- App authentication and session continuity
- Account recovery when you link a Google account
- Security and abuse prevention
- Protection of future purchases, where applicable
3.4 Typed and Scanned Questions
When you ask a question, LearnSnap collects what you submit so it can generate a response:
- Typed questions: the text you enter is sent to our backend for processing.
- Scanned questions: when you use the camera or select an image, the captured image is sent to our backend so the question can be recognised and answered. Recognised question text and the resulting answer are processed as part of generating your response.
We do not intentionally retain scanned images as permanent profile data. Images and recognised content are processed to generate your answer and are retained only as long as necessary to provide the service, prevent duplicate charges, secure your account, and support account-deletion requests, as described in Section 9 (Data Retention).
3.5 AI-Generated Answers, Quizzes, and Flashcards
LearnSnap uses a third-party AI provider, OpenAI, to generate explanations, examples, quiz questions, and flashcards from your submitted questions and saved topics. Your submitted question content and, where applicable, recognised scan content are sent to OpenAI's API for processing in order to generate these responses. OpenAI processes this content under its own applicable terms; we do not control OpenAI's independent data-handling practices beyond the scope of that processing relationship.
AI-generated content may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. We do not guarantee the correctness of any AI-generated answer, example, quiz, or flashcard.
3.6 Credit Balance, Usage, and Subscription Status
LearnSnap uses a credit system to meter AI actions. We collect and store your credit balance, credit-usage history (for example, that a typed question or a scan consumed credits, or that a Quiz or Flashcard deck generation was free or credit-consuming), and your subscription status (for example, whether you hold an active monthly premium subscription) to operate this system and to bill accurately through Google Play.
3.7 Firebase Analytics
The app uses Firebase Analytics for product analytics. Firebase Analytics may process:
- App launches and session information
- Screen or feature interactions
- App version and operating-system information
- Device type and approximate geographic information
- App-instance or related analytics identifiers
Firebase Analytics is used for product analytics only. It is not the app's authentication or identity system. We do not intentionally include your questions, answers, saved topics, or images in Firebase Analytics event parameters.
3.8 Firebase Crashlytics
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic logs when the app encounters an error, so we can identify and fix bugs. Crash reports may include device information, app version, and technical logs surrounding the crash. We do not intentionally include your questions, answers, saved topics, or images in Crashlytics reports.
4. Local Study Content and Server-Side Data
In this version of LearnSnap (V1), your study content is primarily stored on your current device:
- Saved topics, quiz attempts, flashcard decks, Daily Practice data, and Progress records are stored locally on your device.
- Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app will remove this locally stored information, and it does not automatically sync to a new device or reinstall.
- Cloud synchronisation of local study content across devices is not currently offered and is not guaranteed unless explicitly introduced in a future update.
Separately, some data related to your submitted questions, generated answers, and Quiz/Flashcard generations is processed and retained on our servers as required to provide the service, prevent duplicate charges, secure your account, and support deletion requests — see Sections 3.4–3.6 and Section 9.
5. How We Use Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- Providing core app functionality
- Managing guest and authenticated sessions
- Security and fraud prevention
- Optional Google account linking and account recovery
- Product analytics to improve the app experience
- Reliability and performance monitoring
- Responding to support and account-deletion requests
- Complying with legal obligations
6. Current Service Providers
We currently work with the following service providers:
- Google Identity / Sign in with Google — optional Google account authentication
- Google Play services and Google Play Billing — required for Android app functionality, subscriptions, and in-app purchases
- OpenAI — AI processing of submitted questions and generation of answers, examples, quizzes, and flashcards
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — product analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — crash and diagnostic reporting
- Hostinger or applicable backend hosting infrastructure — backend services and this website
We do not currently use advertising SDKs. This policy will be updated before any materially different third-party integration is introduced.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
- Service providers listed above may process information on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority.
- We may share information to protect the rights, property, or safety of LearnSnap, our users, or others.
- This policy will be updated before any materially different data sharing is introduced.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information. Production data transmissions between the app and our backend are intended to use HTTPS encryption. However, no system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please contact us if you become aware of any security concern.
9. Data Retention
- Account and session information may remain on our servers while your account is active.
- Sessions may expire automatically or be revoked for security reasons.
- Submitted question content, scanned-image processing data, and generated answers/Quiz/Flashcard data may be retained on our servers while your account is active, to support the credit system, prevent duplicate charges, and allow you to access what you generated.
- Following a verified account-deletion request, eligible information will be deleted or anonymised.
- We may retain minimal pseudonymous financial and security-event records (for example, records needed for billing integrity, refunds, duplicate-purchase prevention, and fraud/security investigation) even after deletion, where necessary for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. Such records are not used to provide services to you and are kept only as long as necessary.
- LearnSnap may retain a limited pseudonymous anti-abuse record after account deletion to prevent repeat promotional-credit redemption. This record does not contain the raw device identifier or study content.
- LearnSnap creates a one-way cryptographic hash of an app-scoped Android device identifier to prevent repeated redemption of promotional welcome credits. The raw identifier is not transmitted or stored. The pseudonymous anti-abuse record may be retained after account deletion solely for fraud prevention.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Use the app as a guest without linking a Google account
- Optionally link or unlink your Google account
- Request access to or correction of information we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data

11. Account Deletion
You can delete your LearnSnap account and associated data directly in the app: open LearnSnap AI → Profile → Settings → Delete Account. You can also request deletion at any time — even after uninstalling the app — by visiting:
We aim to process verified web-request deletions within 30 days. Deleting your LearnSnap account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription — subscriptions must be cancelled separately through Google Play.
12. Children's Privacy
LearnSnap AI is intended for users aged 13 and above and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app and provided personal information, please contact us immediately at support@bytecraft.pk.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
We will update this policy before introducing further material changes to our data practices, such as new third-party integrations or advertising.
